Turning a photograph to a sepia tone always adds to its mystery and old-time romance. Here's the trick to create it.
1. Open an image.
2. Desaturate it.
Image> Adjust> Desaturate
3. Add the Sepia tone to it.
Image> Adjust> Color Balance
In color levels, type in: 20, 0, -20.
4. Improve the contrast/brightness.
Image> Adjust> Brightness/Contrast
Put -5 for the brightness and +30 for the contrast.
But that's not limited to this tutorial. You can fiddle around with the Color Balance option to create different color schemes, not just sepia! Again, just fiddle about with the color balance and try other inputs. Example below:
