We all know that black and white pictures are very poetic and timeless. But here's an added flair to the notion to make it ever more exciting!
1. Open an image.
2. Convert it to black and white.
Image> Adjust> Desaturate
3. Adjust its brightness/contrast levels.
Image> Adjust> Brightness/Contrast. Input these numbers: -5 for brightness; +30 for contrast.
4. Add another layer on top of it.
Layer> New Layer
5. Use a brush to add pizzazz.
Choose a brush that has sharp edges and is a tad bit swirly. Choose a color that's appropriate for the picture. This Orange (#E88317) color suits the fun atmosphere evoked by the merry-go-round.
