I've noticed that however beautiful your subject may be, if you do not grasp
that angle that will flatter their qualities, the magic will go down the toilet
for all I know. Snapping the picture from the right 'angle' takes some perceptiveness
but it makes a lot of difference in the end.
There is a rule in photography called the 'Thirds' rule. Basically, to get
a more interesting picture, your subject must lie in three boxes that reflect
a certain angle. An illustration is provided below. Imagine the box as a canvas
or camera lens; which is divided into nine squares. Choosing any three connected
boxes for your subject to be in is what the rule is all about. For example,
your subject could lie in the three boxes shown below (other variations are
possible):
Or...
Observe these typical subjects and how the particular angle at which they've
been shot made them more alluring and interesting.
Again, a picture that has the right focus and angle, exudes a beautiful deep meaning embedded within the picture.
Tell your story the right way, the right angle way ;)
